Named after Vulpes chama – Cape fox. The Cape fox is only found in Southern Africa, including Zimbabwe, Botswana, and South Africa.
A quintessential and impeccable expression of high-altitude Swartland Chenin. The Chama 2024 is sourced from two distinct blocks, including the elevated ‘sky block’ on Eikelaan farm (400m above sea level), where cool breezes, granite soils, and dryland farming yield fruit of immense precision. And from Jakkalsfontein, which benefits from underground water giving concentrated fruit.
Chama uses grapes from the Sky Block and Jakkalsfontein, combining parcels planted in 1997 and 1986, respectively. Subtle, understated and appealingly low in alcohol, it's a tangy, granite-based delight from Nuschka de Vos, with oatmeal, lanolin, fennel and wet stone flavours and a core of laser-like minerality. 2025-32. Grapes from two Paardeberg vineyards, one planted in 1986 and the other in 1996. Peach, soft citrus, earth and a touch of spice on the nose while the palate is rich and relatively broad with seemingly moderate acidity. Intensely flavoured and multifaceted, the finish savoury. Presents as just a little riper than 2022. Alc: 13%. CE’s rating: 95/100.
