Cool Climate Syrah!
Harvested from the lovely vineyards of Elim on soils varying from shale, gravel and Ferricrete also known as Koffieklip. Minimal intervention throughout the winemaking process created a beautiful cool climate Syrah. After de-stemming the wine fermented naturally in open-top fermenters and benefitted from daily punch-downs. The wine then spent 10 months in partly new and older French oak and was bottled beginning of 2025. The wine was made in a natural way, with only sulphur additions
Tasting Notes: Notes of intense spiciness, Bitou berries and green peppercorn characteristics harmoniously integrated with subtle oak nuances. Black cherry and black olive complexity adds depth, while fynbos undertones provide distinctive character. An elegant palate with velvety tannins and excellent structure, lifted by the salinity that speaks to this terroir's coastal influence. This is a sophisticated Syrah with exceptional ageing potential that will develop with style over time.
Matured for 10 months in barrel, partially new. Hugely aromatic with notes of red berries, fynbos and intense pepper. Light but not too light, with lemon-like acidity and silky tannins. Elegant and seamless, with no dip on the mid-palate. Alc: 13.3%. CE’s rating: 96/100.
