Not your typical Pinotage. Think elegant, refined and no stereotypical pinotage flavours. More refined, like a Pinot Noir, with great soft tannis. Complex and unique!
Pinotage, a cross between Pinot Noir and Cinsaut, is a truly South African variety. Old bush vines, established in 1960. The vineyard was named after Thomas, who worked the soil with only horse and plough, his tenacity lives on. The vineyard is Atlantic influenced and has a cool microclimate. Coffee Stone with pot clay soils. Cold soaked for ten days at 8 °C and fermented up to a maximum of 25 °C. 14 months in 2nd and 3rd fill French oak barrels.
VINEYARD: Stellenbosch Kloof (Close to Jordan)
Tasting Notes: Intense red fruit, notably raspberries, mulberries, and ripe plums. An elegant, rather than overly heavy, expression of Pinotage. Lengthy and smooth.
