The uniquely South African grape, it is a cross between Cinsault and Pinot noir. NAT is our take on Pinotage, naturally fermented lighter and fresher in styled, expressing authenticity. A style more reminiscent of its paternal lines. As Manet is to the art world, NAT is to Pinotage. Dry land bush-vines and aged for 8 months in concrete egg and foudre.
Tasting Notes: Made with minimal intervention, utilizing Darling fruit and fermentation in concrete eggs and old oak for a refined, rather than heavy structured. Expect vibrant red fruits like cranberry and sour cherry, sometimes with earthy or savory, charcuterie-like,, undertones. It is juicy, light, and, elegant, departing from traditional, heavily oaked Pinotage styles.
Food Pairing: Roasted pork shoulder, grilled lamb chops, sausages, charcuterie, smoked duck, or bbq ribs. Vegetarian & Earthy: Roasted root vegetables, mushroom risotto, or beetroot dishes, which complement the savory undertones.
