A 2nd-vintage estate blend. 14 months in 60% new Burgundian foudre, then 8 months in concrete. An incredibly elegant white blend.
This unique site sits 650 meters above sea level on the wind-swept Piketberg mountain. Stompie blends Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Grenache Blanc, and Chenin Blanc to showcase this cool-climate terroir. You will encounter exotic aromatics of citrus, peach, and potpourri with waxy, leesy undertones. On the palate, the wine delivers dense fruit and a punchy, vibrant acidity. An intensely savory finish provides a thrilling tension that persists long after the last sip. This “minimal intervention” wine reflects the magic of young vines grown in Table Mountain Sandstone.
“From own fruit. 40% Grenache Blanc, 25% Chardonnay, 14% Chenin Blanc, 11% Sauvignon Blanc, 5% Roussanne, 2.5% Marsanne and 2.5% Clairette. Matured for 14 months in oak (including a new foudre) before a further eight months in concrete. The nose is somewhat shy with faint notes of peach, citrus, winter melon and herbs. The palate is surprisingly substantial given an alcohol of just 12.87% – dense fruit, creamy texture, bright acidity and a savoury finish.” – Christian Eedes, Winemag.co.za
