The Chenin for this wine is from a single vineyard on the outskirts of Malmesbury, planted with dry farmed bush vines. Deep golden orange colour, complex aromas of exotic fruits, apricot, honey, and plenty of freshness and minerality on the palate. This is serious and structured, but also incredibly drinkable.
A 5-month skin-contact from 42-year-old on granite. 100% concrete, free-run juice only.
This expressive Chenin Blanc matured in concrete and old French oak to preserve its stony minerality. Specifically, the nose reveals enticing layers of stone fruit, dried pineapple, and a faint nuttiness. On the palate, you will experience a thrilling balance between lean acidity and a savory, honeyed depth. Ultimately, you should enjoy this bottle slightly chilled to allow the complex fynbos notes to evolve. It pairs beautifully with aromatic North African tagines or a platter of aged nutty cheeses.
“From a Paardeberg vineyard planted in 1984. Five months on skins. Dull amber in colour. Enticing aromatics of fynbos, menthol, citrus and stone fruit along with faint spice and nuttiness. The palate has great presence and balance – quite broad and textured, the finish pithy.” – 94/100 Christian Eedes
