The perfect poolside Pinot Noir from the Swartland. The gateway drug to Pinot
From a high‑altitude vineyard in the cool Elandskloof Valley, this Pinot Noir reflects the pristine South African landscape where crisp mountain air and rocky soils shape its character.
100% carbonic maceration from 658m altitude. Fresh, bright, and picked early. 100% concrete. Tea-like tannin and the dark natured fruit was compelling. Crafted by Johan “Stompie” Meyer, the wine undergoes 100% carbonic maceration in concrete tanks. This innovative method delivers a bright, fruit‑forward profile while preserving purity and freshness.
Tasting Notes: A pure and lively expression, celebrating the innovative spirit of the Mother Rock. Layers of red plum, strawberry candy, and a touch of blood orange acidity unfold gracefully. The texture is lively, with crunchy fruit and light, tea-like tannins that invite a refreshing sip.
Food Pairing: A wine reminiscent of “strawberry ice lollies” on a summer’s day. Pairs beautifully with cured meats, mushroom risotto, or a fresh summer berry tart. Poultry & Game Birds: Roast duck, chicken with herbs, or game birds are excellent, as the wine's acidity cuts through rich flavors without overpowering them. Lightly Grilled Fish: While a red wine, its light body and fresh finish make it a great pairing for grilled salmon or charred white fish (Kob, Hake). Mushrooms & Earthy Veggies: Mushroom risotto, truffle-infused dishes, or roasted beet salads complement the wine's inherent earthy undertones.
From own fruit. Pretty aromatics of flowers, herbs and red cherry. Light and bright with chalky tannins, the finish savoury. Good fruit definition, balanced, lively – not too facile, entirely charming. Alc: 11.8%.CE’s rating: 91/100.
