Pinot Noir from Hemel-en-Aarde Ridge: A transparent showcase of their unique characteristics. Wines that speak of place, honouring their individuality with clarity and elegance.
Perched at the highest point of the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley, the Hemel-en-Aarde Ridge enjoys a unique cool microclimate, defined by significant temperature shifts between day and night. The nearby Atlantic Ocean delivers refreshing breezes, creating ideal conditions for crafting refined, complex wines. Nestled among mountains, the region’s varying elevations and exposures allow for distinct expressions, each bottle capturing the land’s unmistakable character.
Hemel-en-Aarde Ridge, Walker Bay · 30% whole-bunch fermentation · Aged 15 months in predominantly older French oak (300L & 500L barrels) Fermented with roughly a third whole-bunch fruit to add spice and structure, then matured for 15 months in mostly older French oak. A minimal-intervention approach that favors gentle infusion over heavy extraction, letting the site speak clearly.
Our Pinot Noir offers a sensual bouquet, like pheromones; gently opening up to floral earthy notes. Smooth, spiced and structured with silky tannins. A minimal intervention wine with focus on infusion rather than extraction. Elegance, energy and emotion.
Tasting Notes: A sensual bouquet, like pheromones, gently opening up to floral, earthy notes. Smooth, spiced and structured with silky tannins. Noteworthy acidity and freshness that elevates and cleans the palate with ease. Long, vertical and elevated in the mouth.
Food Pairing: Classic Pinot Noir territory. Roast duck, herb-crusted poultry, or a simply prepared cut of venison. It's also elegant enough to sit alongside mushroom-based dishes or a soft, washed-rind cheese, where the wine's earthy, spiced character finds an easy echo.
