Bloemendal Wine Estate is a historic gem, situated in the fertile Durbanville Valley, just 30 minutes from Cape Town. The farm was established in 1702 and is one of the largest wine farms in the region, reaching up along the Kanonberg Mountains. A producer of world class award-winning wines, an idyllic wedding and function venue and home to the popular family restaurant, Bon Amis, there are so many reasons to visit Bloemendal Estate.
As soon as fermentation starts, the wine is moved to 40% new and 30% second fill French oak barrel and 30% third fill French Oak Barrels, where it is left to ferment for 10 months before bottling.
Tasting Notes: Bright and pale straw in color, this wine opens with delicate aromas of melon, acacia blossom, kumquat, and subtle hints of ginger, jasmine, and apple flower. The palate is pure and elegant, layered with poached pear, quince, starfruit, and fresh lemon, while gentle oak adds complexity. Balanced natural acidity carries through a medium-bodied, textured midpalate. Refined and understated, it finishes with lingering notes of angelica and chamomile on a saline, lightly spiced.
